Privacy Browser

Most web pages quietly load scripts from companies you have never heard of, and many of them are there to follow you from site to site. The browsers most people use are made by companies that earn their money from advertising, so they have little reason to stop it.

Udal Privacy Browser drops those scripts before they load. It runs on its own engine and doesn't report back to anyone, including us. It is a standalone browser for the ordinary web, separate from Udal Apps and Udal Tunnel, and doesn't need either.

Its own engineNot Chromium, not a Firefox fork, and no Electron.

Most alternative browsers are built on Chromium, which is Google's engine. Udal Privacy Browser is written in Rust with GTK4 and renders pages with the open-source WebKit engine. It has been through around 5,000 builds so far.

This matters for more than speed. Almost every browser now runs on one of two engines. A third engine means one less part of how the web works is decided by a single company.

The ordinary web, cleaned upAds and trackers are dropped before they load.

On the ordinary web (ClearNet), ads, trackers and the scripts that follow you between sites are dropped before they load, so pages are lighter and quicker. This is for everyday browsing: search, email, video and the rest.

Everyday browsing doesn't need Udal Tunnel.

DefaultsPrivate settings on, telemetry off.

Privacy settings are on by default and the browser sends no telemetry, to us or anyone else. There is no account to create. You can change any default you don't like.

FreeFunded by coffee and spare change.

The browser is free to use and will stay free. Nothing about you is sold to pay for it. It is funded by coffee and spare change, so if it earns a place in your day, you can buy the makers a coffee.
